Further Information About AUCLAIR Joseph Arsene Roch Tancrede

Joseph Auclair enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on 16th July 1941 at the R.C.A.F. Recruiting Centre, Montreal. He was born on 28th August 1920 at St Hilaire, Quebec, the son of Arsene Auclair and Mary Auclair, nee Lapointe.  Arsene was born St Hilaire, Quebec and Mary was born at St Valerien, Quebec. At the time of his enlistment Joseph was employed as a Distillery operator for the defence ministry. His service records list the particulars of his education, a number of sports that he enjoyed participating in and that he was fluent in French and English. Joseph was 5 feet 5½ inches tall with brown eyes, brown hair and a medium complexion.

The RCAF record the following information on the crash in which Joseph Auclair died:
Rank: Sgt
Unit: No. 23. OTU, Pershore.
Circumstances: Involved in aircraft crash near Earls Croome between Worcester and Cheltenham 11.17 hrs. 29.1.43.
Description of injuries: Multiple injuries, “FA”.

Sergeant Joseph Rock Arsene Lancreae Auclair (as given in the register), age 22, serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force was buried in consecrated ground in Pershore Cemetery on 2nd February 1943. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend Oswald Earle, R.A.F. Station, Pershore.
