The following is an extract from the excellent book, Chronicles of The Worcestershire Home Guard’ by Milk Wilks, published 2014, and is reproduced under copyright and by kind permission of the author:
Leslie Charles Archer, of Beaconsfield, Kemerton, suffered a broken neck when a lorry in which he was riding overturned on a sharp corner between Conderton and Beckford. He and his colleagues were travelling to grenade practice at Hinton-on-the-Green. The lorry was considered to be overloaded and had just driven down a slope. Death by misadventure was recorded.
