Further Information About ANDREWS Francis Nicholas

Born December 28th, 1894
Francis Andrews, the second and only surviving son of the Reverend J.W. Andrews, Rector of Trysull, Wolverhampton, entered Castle House in the First Form in January 1906, at the age of 12. After 5 years of quiet industry, he left in the Remove at Christmas, 1911, and after a short period coaching with the Reverend R.B. Thompson at High Ham, entered the Law. When war broke out he obtained a commission in the Royal Irish Rifles, and died in France early in October. His Colonel wrote of him: “He was a very smart and promising young officer, and beloved by all his comrades.” Though he never reached a high class, he was well read, and a close friend writes of him “as one of those who realised that intellectual training was quite as important as athletic distinction.” His was a quiet, serious and attractive disposition, liked and respected by all – beloved by those who knew him best
