Further Information About ALEXANDER Thomas Endle
Thomas Endle Alexander was born on the 30th December 1894 and baptised at St Peter’s Parish Church, Liverpool on the 21st January 1895, the son of John and Ada Maria Alexander (nee Endle). John died aged 31 in 1896, Ada died aged 45 in 1914. In 1911 Thomas was resident as a boarder in a boarding house at 15 Baker Street, Liverpool.
Thomas enlisted as Private 2556, 5th Battalion The King’s (Liverpool Regiment) on the 2nd September 1914 when he was resident at 28 Webb Street, Smithdown Road, Liverpool. He gave his age as 19 years 8 months and his next of kin as his sister, Miss B. Alexander, 74 Mansell Road, Boaler Street, Liverpool. Thomas remained on home service until he was posted overseas to France, arriving there on the 3rd August 1915.
Thomas was wounded in action on the 15th September 1916. He died the following day at No 38 Casualty Clearing Station, France. An Army form completed by his 28 year old sister Beatrice on the 11th April 1919 stated that Thomas was single, there were no surviving grandparents or parents, only herself and their brother, Sapper R.E. Alexander aged 27, 137 Molyneux Road, Kensington, Liverpool.
