At the time of his admission to the school his parent is recorded as F.L.S., Highfield, Danescourt Rd., Tettenhall, Staffordshire. Derek had previously been educated at Tettenhall College (Secondary). He left Kings School from Form VI in July 1938. Herford College, Oxford.
