David Maslin was born in 1882 in Upton on Severn.  In 1902 he married Mary Eliza Jenkins and in 1911 the couple resided at 41 Tirley Street, Tirley, Tewkesbury with their 3 young children.  He enlisted as Private 22320 in the Worcestershire Regiment on 28th April 1915 when he gave his address as Moss Green, Bushley, near Tewkesbury.  He was discharged to the army reserve on 18th May 1915 as €˜not being likely to become an efficient soldier’.
