Resident Lye, Worcestershire, enlisted Stourbridge.

Thomas Rutter was born in 1891, the son of Thomas and Phoebe Rutter of 17 Attwood Street, Lye. By the time of the 1911 census, aged 20, he was employed as a clerk in a Frost Cog Works. Thomas enlisted in the artillery and was sent to the Royal Horse Artillery as a driver. From either wounds or sickness he returned home and died in Lye on the 15th May 1915. He was buried in Lye and Wollescote Cemetery on 20th May; his mother and father who died in 1939 and 1940 were buried in the same plot.
