Rubery Soldier Killed in Action
“News has been received of the death in action from shell-fire, on the 2nd November, of Private Percy Cooper, of the West Yorkshire Regiment. Private Cooper was the son of Mr Walter Cooper, of “Thornhaugh”, New Road, Rubery. He enlisted in September 1914 and had been in France for one year and seven months. He was 23 years of age and before the war he worked at the Austin Motor Works. He was a playing member of the Rubery Football Club.”
