Further Information About BENTLEY William

William was the son of Thomas Bentley of Mill Road, Stourport.  He enlisted in the army in 1916 and was attached to the Lincolnshire Regiment.  One of four brothers serving their country, one brother is in the North Sea squadron and another with the Italian Navy. William died of wounds received in action.

During April 1917, the 8th Lincolnshires were involved in the Battle of Arras.  Operating at Orange Hill, North-West of Monchy-le-Preux from the 9th to 11th April and near the chemical works at Rouex, on the 23rd April.

An obituary for William Bentley appears in the Stourport Parish Magazine for June 1917.
