Served several years in the London Scottish prior to the war.

David Baldwin was born at Ashby-de-la-Zouch in 1890, the only son of Benjamin and Helen Baldwin.  He attended Wyggeston School, Leicester before becoming a pupil at Worcester Royal Grammar School in 1905.  After leaving the school in 1907 he studied art in London and Paris.  He served with the London Scottish until 1913 and re-enlisted in the army on the outbreak of the war.  In July 1915 he was posted to France and was killed shortly afterwards whilst demonstrating the use of bombs.
