Wilfred Holroyd was born in 1892. He attended Bromsgrove School from 1906 to 1910. He was in the XV team of 1908 and 1909 and won the bronze medal for gymnastics in 1909. In August 1914 he enlisted in the Norfolks and was killed in action at Hulluch two days after an elder brother had died of wounds. At the time of his death he was a Sergeant in his battalion and was about to receive a commission.
