Archibald sailed from Liverpool on the Empress of Ireland on 16th July 1909, bound for Quebec, Canada.

Archibald Pitt enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 25th August 1915 at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. On his attestation form he gave his date of birth as 28th October 1887 in Malvern, Worcestershire, his next of kin as his parents, Job and Catherine Pitt, Pit(t)ville, West Malvern, Worcestershire, England and his occupation as a baker. Archibald was 5 feet 9¼ inches tall with dark grey eyes, black hair and a fair complexion.

On 23rd April 1916 Archibald sailed from Halifax on the S.S. Empress of Britain to Liverpool, England where he arrived in early May. On 11th August 1916 he proceeded to France on overseas service where he disembarked in Havre on 12th August 1916. He died of unspecified wounds received in action at No 6 Casualty Clearing Station in France on 3rd April 1917.
