Malcolm and Alec’s births are registered as Male Graham in the June Quarter 1871 under the Dursley Registration District.

Malcolm and Alec Graham were the twin sons of George and Lydia Graham who were married at St Mary’s Church, Charlton Kings, Gloucestershire on 18th June 1863.  The couple also had three daughters, Edith, Violet and Constance and had sufficient income to employ six live-in servants in 1871.  Alec and Malcolm were educated at Glyngarth School, Cheltenham in the early 1880s and after leaving school, Alec went on to attend Clifton College in Bristol.

In 1901 at the age of 30, Alec was commissioned as a Lieutenant with the Worcestershire Regiment and served with them during the Boer War in South Africa from 1901 to 1902. He was awarded the Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899 to 1902 with two clasps.  At the outbreak of the Great War he rejoined the Worcestershire Regiment, receiving his Captaincy with the regiment in August 1914.  He arrived in France on 9th November 1914 and just a few weeks later he was killed in action at the age of 43.  He was awarded the British War Medal, the Victory Medal and the 1914 Star with clasp.

Captain, 6th (Reserve) Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment, attached 1st Battalion (47th Foot) The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment; served in the South African War 1901-2, with the 6th Worcestershire Regiment; obtained his Captaincy in August 1914; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders, attached to the 1st Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, and was killed in action 22nd December 1914.
