Further Information About WHITE William

William White enlisted in the Worcestershire Regiment on 17th September 1914 at Worcester. He was born in the parish of All Saints, Worcester, he gave his age as 38 years and his occupation as a labourer. William was 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium dark complexion, brown eyes and grizzled hair. He was mobilised on 20th September 1914 and posted to Devonport on 17th December 1914 where he remained until he embarked to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force in the Dardanelles on 9th May 1915. He was posted missing less than one month later on 4th June 1915, this was later amended to killed in action following a board of enquiry held on 30th January 1916.

In July 1919 an army form completed by his mother, Mrs Emma White, c/o Mrs Harper, St Andrews Square, Copenhagen Street, Worcester, revealed that William was unmarried and had no children. His father, William White was deceased by July 1919. William (junior) had one brother, Frederick Charles White aged 28, 27 Little Fish Street, Worcester, and 3 sisters, Sarah Smith aged 30, Nellie Handley aged 23 and Mary Mills aged 40, all resident in Worcester. William’s mother had died by 1922 and his war service medals were sent to his brother, Frederick.
