April 28th 1916 The defence was inspired by 2nd Lieutenant JDW McMichael.

p157:
Fighting on Vimy Ridge
The day’s work had cost the Battalion dear – nearly a hundred in all including the gallant 2nd Lieutenant McMichael.

The following information has been researched by Sandra Taylor:
Berrow’s Worcester Journal, Saturday 3rd June 1916:
Sec.-Lt. J.D.W. McMichael Killed
Second Lieutenant J. D. W. McMichael, Worcestershire Regiment, who has fallen in action, was a son of Mr D. McMichael, of Alvechurch. He enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war. A few weeks ago he was wounded, but made a quick recovery and re-joined his regiment.
