Linthurst Man Dies of Disease
“Private George Collins, Labour Corps, son of Mrs Emma Garfield, of The Linthurst, Blackwell, died suddenly on the 5th November, from influenza and pneumonia, at the 1/5th Northern General Hospital, Leicester. Previous to joining the colours the deceased was engaged as a Shunter for the Midland Railway Company at Sheepbridge, near Chesterfield. Private Collins, who was single, had been in the army about 15 months.”
