Further Information About HARRIS Charles Thomas

Charles Harris attended Wollescote school. He enlisted in the Worcesters and joined the 2/8th Territorials on the Western Front. In 1917 they were in the Arras sector following up the German retreat to the Hindenburg Line. In March 1918 they were in the front line at St Quentin and had to face the first great German Spring offensive. The huge barrage of the 21st March was devastating and those in the fortified block-houses in the front line had little chance of retreat in the face of the overwhelming enemy advance. Private Charles Harris was killed during this attack.
