Further Information About WOOD William Henry
William Wood was the son of Mr and Mrs Wood, 13, Lion Hill, Stourport. He was killed in action at Longueville. Previous to enlisting in April 1916, he was helping his father with water work on the canal and worked at the Tin Stamping Works at Stourport. His last letters were cheerfully written and in these acknowledged parcels from home.

From 19th to 22nd August the 2nd Worcesters held trenches on the edge of Delville Wood. On the 24th they attacked and over ran the German front line and were relieved after dark.
