Further Information About BULL John

Rank shown as Lance Sergeant on Commonwealth War Graves Commission and Corporal on Soldiers Died in the Great War. Medal Index Roll records his rank as Corporal.

Enlisted Worcester, resident Crowle.

Prior to the war John worked as a gardener at Crowle Vicarage.  Keen on horses, he enlisted in the Worcestershire Yeomanry on 7th September 1914.  He first entered the theatre of war in Egypt on 20th April 1915 and took a camera with him when he went off to war.  His family still have many of the images he took in their possession.  He was awarded the British War Medal, the Victory Medal and the 1915 Star.

J. Bull 1st/1st Worcester Yeomanry, 6th Draft, embarked at Devonport 4th May 1916 for service with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, disembarked at Alexandria, Egypt on 15th May 1916.  Died 25th October 1918.
