Newspaper, 23rd December 1944 mentioning Horace Ingles:
Broadway
Killed in action – Official notification has now been received by Mr. and Mrs. Ingles of Church Street, Broadway, that their youngest son, Able Seaman Roy Ingles, who was last week reported missing, believed killed, has been killed in action. He was 21 years of age, joined the Royal Navy in 1942, and had seen much war service. Educated at Broadway Council School, he was a keen sportsman, and was picked as a likely member of Worcestershire County Cricket Club. At the age of 17 he travelled as first reserve for the county, and has played many times for both Evesham and Broadway. He was also a useful footballer, and played outside left for Broadway. Before joining the Navy Able Seaman Ingles was a member of the A.T.C. and Home Guard, and was employed by Gordon Russell, Ltd., Broadway. He married Miss Marjorie Ferris, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferris, Windsor Road, Evesham, a little more than a year ago. He has two brothers in the Forces, one, Private Horace G. Ingles, was reported wounded six weeks ago, and the other, Private R.H. Ingles, has been a prisoner of war for more than two years.
