Robert Hall attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1918 to 1927. After leaving school and prior to enlistment he worked alongside his brothers at Messrs J & F Hall Ltd, Iron Merchants. He was Captain of Worcester Rowing Club and a member of Worcester Rugby Club. Robert married Phyllis Mary Thorne in Worcester in 1938 and they had two children, Patricia D. Hall born in 1939 and John B. Hall born in 1941.

Husband Killed in the Middle East
Mrs Phyllis Hall, of Droitwich, has been officially notified of the death through enemy action of her husband, Sergeant Robert Hall, while serving with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in the Middle East.
Sergeant Hall, who was 30 years of age, was educated at Worcester Royal Grammar School, and was well-known in the city. He was a former Captain of Worcester Rowing Club, and a member of the Worcester Rugby Club. Before joining the Forces 15 months ago, he worked with his brothers in the iron merchants’ business of Messrs. J. and F. Hall, Ltd., Worcester.
Sgt. Hall has a brother serving in the R.A.F., and a sister in the W.R.N.S.
His wife was formerly Miss Phyllis Thorne, daughter of Mr George Thorne, of the Star Hotel, Worcester, and the Rifleman’s Arms, Droitwich. Sgt. Hall leaves one small daughter.
