John Thomas Moody, known as ‘Jack’, joined Kidderminster Borough Police as PC K021 on 3rd March 1912 when he gave his date of birth as 4th January 1890 at Swindon, Staffordshire, his home address as Smethstow Cottages, Swindon near Dudley and his previous employment as a Labourer. At the time he joined the force he was 22 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a fresh complexion, blue eyes and light brown hair.
On 13th February 1918 John married Gertrude Cresswell in Wolverhampton and the couple had 2 children, a daughter born on 31st August 1922 and a son born on 9th September 1927. He was promoted to Sergeant on 15th February 1927. John retired from Kidderminster Borough Police on 2nd November 1937 after 25 years service, receiving a pension of £181 7s 0d per annum. He died on 3rd December 1941.

John Thomas Moody, aged twenty-five; height, 5ft. 10½in. Police service, two and three-quarter years. Native of Swindon, Staffordshire.
All enlisted in the Royal Garrison Artillery on July 15th last, and are now stationed in the South of England. Hall, Palmer, Allen, Haycox and Large are attached to the 49th Battery (Siege), R.F.A., and Moody is now attached to the 56th Battery (Siege), R.G.A. All are single men.
