Short Stirling I, No.R9164, Code OJ-Q, took off from RAF Lakenheath at 20.47 hrs for a raid on Essen on 16th September 1942. The aircraft was shot down by a Luftwaffe nightfighter of I/NJG4, flown by Ofw Reinhard Kollak and crashed at 03.33 hrs at Tongruine (Namur), about 7 km south-west of Gembloux, Belgium. The crew were F/S M.J. Kynaston, Sgt E.D. Booty, Sgt W. Walker, Sgt J. Collumbell, Sgt A.C. Rault and Sgt R.A. Russell.
