Further Information About YORK Alfred James

Alfred York was the son of George and Ellen York of Lickhill Farm, Stourport.  Previous to enlisting he was employed at Mr. Pratt’s, Lickhill Farm.  He had only been abroad since Whitsuntide.  Killed in action.

On 9th October the 4th Worcesters took part in the Battle of Poelcappele, attacking up the North bank of the Broembeek.  The action cost 23 killed, 112 wounded and 40 missing.

An obituary for Alfred James York appears in the Stourport Parish Magazine for November 1917.
