Kidderminster Shuttle, 7th October 1916:
Fallen in Battle
Official news has been received by the relatives that Sergeant W.H. Wilson, of the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, has died from wounds at a clearing station in France, on September 23rd.  He was wounded in the left side by gun-shot, from which he never recovered.  He was on leave four months, but had been in the Army eleven years, doing service in India; whence he was drafted to France.  He made his home with his aunt and sister at 10 Lorne Street.  A smart soldier he was highly respected by all, and his death at the age of twenty-six years is generally regretted.  When in civilian life he was employed in the dyehouse department of Messrs. Woodward, Grosvenor & C0., and it is interesting to recall that he was formerly a Kidderminster Brigade Boy.
