Edwin Vale was born at Bromsgrove in 1890, the son of Edwin and Ann Vale, 6, Brook Road, Bromsgrove. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a clerk (cycle manufacturer).
Bromsgrove Droitwich and Redditch Messenger, 21st December 1918:
Mr Edwin Vale of 6, Brook Road, Bromsgrove received news from the War Office on December 11th that his son, Bombardier E C Vale, Signaller 831841, Royal Field Artillery, attached to the 62nd Brigade died in France at a casualty clearing station on December 2nd form pneumonia following influenza. Deceased joined the Army under the Derby Scheme on May 30th 1916 and went to France on April 11th 1917. Before the war he was employed at the office of the Royal Enfield Cycle Company, Redditch, for ten years. He was 28 years of age and was expected home on leave shortly to be married.
