On 27th November 1940 Glenmoor was sailing unescorted approximately 167 miles northwest of Sylne Head, Ireland. At 19.56 hours the ship was struck by a torpedo fired from U-103 causing her to sink. The master and 30 crew members died, 2 survivors were picked up by Royal Navy ships and landed at Liverpool.
