Arthur James Stockton was baptised at Christ Church, Stone on the 29th August 1888, the son of Walter and Elizabeth Stockton of Longton Road. Walter was a shoemaker. In 1901 the family consisting of Walter aged 39, Elizabeth aged 35 and their children Alice aged 15, Arthur aged 12, Elsie aged 10, Annie aged 9, Edith aged 6 and Leonard aged 2 were resident at 89 Newcastle Street, Stone.
