The following information has been researched by Andy Frisby:
William Smith was born at Welford on Avon in 1892, the son of Philip and Ellen Smith who resided at Yessell Lane, Evesham. Prior to enlisting at Evesham he was employed as a market gardener’s labourer. William went to the Balkans on 4th July 1915. He died of sunstroke on 7th July 1916.
