Charles Smith entered France on 5th December 1917; he was posted missing on 27th May 1918. He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Charles John Smith was born on 14th July 1898, the son of Frank P. Smith and Leah E. Smith (nee Cooper). He had 2 brothers Frank Charles Smith and Arthur Alfred George Smith.
