Charles Petford was born at Hanbury in 1895, the son of Frederick Charles and Martha Petford nee Osborne.  Charles was a farmworker and the couple had 6 children:
Charles Harry Petford born 1895.
Esther Fanny Petford born 1897.
Arthur John Petford born 1899 died 1899.
Wallace James Petford born 1900 died 1902.
Fred Daniel Petford born 1902.
Austin Petford born 1905.
The family lived at Stone Cottages, Tardebigge.
