Further Information About PERRYGROVE Frederick
Frederick Perrygrove was born at Bromsgrove in 1896, the son of Thomas and Agnes Perrygrove. He enlisted at Worcester in August 1914 and went to France on 1st April 1915.
Bromsgrove Droitwich and Redditch Messenger, 29th May 1915:
Mrs Perrygrove of Worcester Street has received official information that her son, Private F Perrygrove of the 8th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, died on 23rd inst, from wounds received in action. Deceased was wounded in the back from gunshot a little over a month ago and has been treated at the No 2 Stationary Hospital, Boulogne. He was between eighteen and nineteen years of age and joined the Territorials in August. His father is at present stationed with the 13th Worcesters at Looe, Cornwall and much sympathy will be extended to the mother in the blow that has befallen her. In a letter to her, the matron of the hospital states that Perrygrove passed away peacefully on Sunday and adds that he was such a good patient. Had he lived, however, he would never have been able to walk. In the course of a letter this week, Corporal E C Jones, of Rock Hill, Bromsgrove of the 8th Worcesters writes:
€œMy section had three wounded while I was with them. I was talking to Private Perrygrove when he was hit. He was a jolly plucky kid for he is very young and although shot through the back, he did not make as much fuss as people do when a thorn is in their finger.€
