Further Information About PENNY Percy
Percy Penny was born in Bromsgrove in 1897, the son of Frederick and Selina Penny. The family lived at Broad Street. In 1901 Frederick was a nail maker working at home but by 1911 he was a labourer for the Urban District Council. Selina was also a nail maker working at home. Percy was the 3rd of 5 children. The two eldest were Ethel and Lizzie but their surname was Froth, suggesting they were Selina’s daughters by an earlier marriage. Both girls became domestic servants. Percy’s two younger siblings were Ernest and Mabel.
Percy Penny has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Thiepval Memorial.
