Further Information About PARRY Walter
Walter Parry was born on 6th September 1897 in Bromsgrove and was the son of Andrew and Ann Parry. In 1901, Andrew was a labourer in a quarry and the family lived at Windsor Square. Their eldest child was Edith, followed by Alfred, Walter and then Charles. In 1911 Walter was living with his widowed maternal grandmother, Ann Edwards, in St John’s Street. Also living there were four of Ann’s children: Annie, Joseph, a labourer with the railway, Alice, who was a domestic servant and Christopher, who was an ironmonger’s assistant. Walter aged 13 was a draper’s errand boy.
Walter enlisted as a Private in the Worcestershire Regiment. He was wounded on the Western Front and died of his wounds in Morpeth, Northumberland aged 20 on 15th November, 1917.
