Further Information About PARKER Stanley
Stanley Parker enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 22nd March 1915 at New Westminster, Vancouver, Canada. On his attestation paper he gave his date of birth as 25th June 1875 in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, his occupation as a carpet weaver and his next of kin as his mother, Mrs Elizabeth Parker, 137 Baxter Avenue, Kidderminster, England. He had 2 years previous service in the Worcestershire Regiment and was a member of an active militia. Stanley was 5 feet 8 inches tall with grey eyes, medium hair and a sandy complexion.
After training in England, Stanley joined his unit in the field in France on 3rd September 1915. He was wounded on 16th October 1915 with gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen and was taken first to No 3 Canadian Field Ambulance before being admitted to No 3 Casualty Clearing Station. Stanley died there from his wounds on 27th October 1915 and was buried in Bailleul Cemetery, his grave marked by a wooden cross.
