Charles Nicklin was born in 1887. In 1911 Charles aged 23 was the head of the household and resident with his mother Mary and older sister at Ashton Under Hill. He married Emily Mary Field at the Baptist Chapel, Evesham on 12th March 1913. Their daughter, Joyce Mary Ketley Nicklin was born on 24th February 1914.
Charles enlisted in the Army Service Corps as Private M2/222794 on 26th November 1915 at Grove Park. On his attestation form he gave his address as Holloway Farm, Ashton Under Hill, Tewkesbury, his age as 28 years 6 months and his occupation as a Farmer. He was posted to the army reserve until 18th September 1916 when he was mobilized for overseas service.
Charles died aged 54 in 1940.
