Jabez Kendall was born at Bromsgrove in 1888, the son of Abel and Ellen Kendall. He was the husband of Martha Kendall nee Albutt of Rock Hill, Bromsgrove.  Jabez enlisted at Bromsgrove and went to France on 5th November 1914.

Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Messenger, 2nd November 1918:
Mrs Kendall of Rock Hill, Bromsgrove has received official information that her husband Sergeant Jabez Kendall (DCM), Worcestershire Regiment, reported dangerously wounded on October 19th has since died. Sergeant Kendall had been in the army about eleven years and had seen a great deal of fighting. He was with the Worcesters at Gheluvelt, where he was severely wounded. He was also at Gallipoli where he contracted dysentery, after recovery from which he was sent to Egypt and subsequently to France, where he gained the DCM in the Cambrai advance of 1917. Sergeant Kendall was twice gassed and also wounded on three occasions. He leaves a widow and one child.
