Further Information About GOULD Frank

Frank Gould was married with a wife and four children and lived at 17 Summer Street, Stourbridge. He was employed at the ironworks of John Bradley and Co. In December 1914 he volunteered for military service and was posted to the 2nd Battalion of the Worcesters in the Spring of 1915. This battalion saw severe action at Loos in September and then moved to the front line near Bethune at Cambrin where it remained until the battle of the Somme. It was a relatively quiet sector, but casualties were regularly sustained from shelling and raids. Lance Corporal Frank Gould was killed in action on the 18th June 1916. He was 36 years of age.
