William Creed was the son of William Henry and Frances Creed, of Graham Villa, Chalford Hill, near Stroud, Gloucestershire. He married Olive E.M. Sparkes during the March Quarter 1916 in the Stroud Registration District and the couple had one daughter, Joan Edna Creed.
The following information has been researched by Sandra Taylor:
William Creed enlisted on 24th June 1916. He remained on home service until 28th September 1917 when he was posted to join the British Expeditionary Force. He died of T.B. Lung on 17th February 1919 at No 32 Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, France. On the 8th October 1919 his widow, Olive Edna May Creed completed an army form giving details of the couple’s daughter, Joan Edna May Creed, born 7th November 1916, his parents William and Frances, his 5 brothers and his 4 sisters. She was awarded an army pension of 20/5 for herself and Joan with effect from 25th August 1919.
