Further Information About BICKNELL Percival George

Appears in the Worcester/Worcestershire Roll of Honour Book for army casualties located in Worcester Cathedral under Bricklehampton casualties.

Percival George Bicknell was born on 15th May 1884 in the village of Bricklehampton, near Pershore, Worcestershire.  He resided in the village at the time of his appointment as Police Constable No 102, Worcester Constabulary on 11th March 1912.  At that time he was single and working as a labourer in Evesham.  He was 5 feet 11½ inches tall, weighed 12 stone 12lbs, his chest measurement was 38 inches and he had a fresh complexion with blue eyes and dark brown hair.  He had a scar on his right leg.  He spent 3 years and 92 days with the constabulary, rising to the rank of Constable 1st Class and working at Police Headquarters in Worcester until 16th July 1912 and then at Great Witley police station from 17th July 1912 until 17th September 1913.  On 18th September 1913 he transferred to Tenbury police station where he remained until he left the police force to enlist in the army on 11th June 1915.  Percival married Louisa White from Claines on 27th November 1915.
