Thomas Bennett was born in Kidderminster in 1894.  He was baptised on 27th August 1894, the son of Thomas Richard and Elizabeth Alice Bennett.  He served with the Pembroke Yeomanry from December 1914 to 18th June 1916 when he transferred to the Royal Engineers, being attested on 27th June 1916 at Clipstone, Nottinghamshire.  On his attestation paper he gave his address as School House, Ferryside, Camarthenshire, his age as 21 years 11 months and his occupation as a Police Constable (ex Collier).  His next of kin was his mother, Elizabeth A. Bennett of the same address.

Whilst serving with the Pembroke Yeomanry, Thomas was punished on three occasions, once for conduct prejudiced to good order and military discipline and pushing his superior officer and twice for being absent without leave.  He joined his Royal Engineers Unit from Base on 14th July 1916 and was killed in action on 20th November 1917.
