There are three possible candidates that may relate to this individual, all of whom served in the Worcestershire Regiment:
Private George Barber, Worcestershire Regiment, born in Hinckley in 1875, enlisted 26th August 1914 at Worcester, occupation given as a labourer. Unable to locate on the 1911 census, probably because he served 9 years in the East Lancashire Regiment.
Private George Barber, Worcestershire Regiment service number 20675, subsequently 137488 Devonshire Regiment. Enlisted at Stourbridge on 28th December 1914, born Stourbridge 1874, resident Stourbridge. Unable to decipher his occupation from his service record and unable to locate on the 1911 census.
Private George Barber, Worcestershire Regiment, service number 16813, subsequently 80797 Durham Light Infantry. Born Little London, Staffordshire in 1874, enlisted at Kings Norton on 6th September 1914. Resident Milner Road, Selly Oak Birmingham. Husband of Ada Maria Barber nee Kerr. He seems the most likely, but his occupation is given as at 1911 and 1914 as a close plater ( in the silver plating trade) and I don’t see that this could have anything to do with the Austin Motor Company.
