Private William Thorne, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, resident Upper Marlbrook
Killed in Action, previously reported missing since Sept. 26th. Son of ex-Constable Thorne of Birmingham Police Force. He and a comrade volunteered to carry a wounded soldier to the dressing station. This they did successfully, but no further tidings were heard of either of them after they started on return journey to the firing line. Employed as a collector for City of Birmingham, Gas Department
