L/Sergeant G.C. Smith 21st Bn. (Worcester)
During the operations in the vicinity of Fleurbaix from 9th to 13th April 1918 he did valuable work on several occasions. He several times cleared up obscure situations and brought back valuable information regarding the position of units whose locality was doubtful. He is absolutely fearless, and can always be relied upon to carry out successfully any mission, however dangerous or difficult, upon which he is sent. He has proved himself a most valuable NCO. (3.9.19)
George Charles Smith (DCM), occupation: R****, resident Carden Street, St Pauls, died in the Infirmary, St Nicholas. He was buried in Astwood Cemetery on 5th July 1921, aged 39 years, Dissenter. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend J.A. Sharrock.
