Walter Rouse was born in Aldminster in 1877 and was resident at Offenham, Evesham in 1911 with wife Mary Louisa, married 1 year, 1 child who had died, employed as a French Gardener. Walter married Mary Louisa Spiers, spinster, at the Parish Church, Offenham on 13th November 1900.

Walter Rouse enlisted as Driver, T4/039731, Army Service Corps on 28th December 1914 at Evesham. On his attestation form he gave his address as New Town, Offenham, his age as 37 years and his occupation as a Gardener. Walter was 5 feet 7¾ inches tall with dark blue eyes, black hair and a dark complexion. He was discharged on 7th May 1915 as ‘Not likely to become and efficient soldier on medical grounds’. It was also noted that he was suffering from a deformed left foot and was unfit for military duty.

The death of Walter Rouse aged 51 is registered in the March Quarter 1929 under the Evesham Registration District.

Walter Rouse’s name appears on a separate plaque on Evesham War Memorial along with 10 other names.
