Further Information About PRIEST Cyril William

Cyril Priest was born in 1898, the son of Caleb and Caroline Priest who were living at 28 King Street, Wollaston, by the time of the Great War. He attended Wollaston CE School and left to work for the Great Western Railway. He enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery and was posted to the 155th Brigade. This unit participated in the successful Advance to Victory from August to November 1918, but Gunner Cyril Priest was one of the last Stourbridge men to die in action during the Great War. He was seriously wounded near Cambrai and taken to one of the Casualty Clearing Stations at Caudry, previously a large German medical centre. He died of wounds on the 4th November.
