Further Information About NIGHTINGALE Albert
Albert Nightingale was born at Mitcham, Surrey but came to live in Stourbridge. He enlisted in the Worcesters but was transferred to the Labour Corps. His unit was in Flanders as the Third Battle of Ypres began and he was probably wounded on the 31st July, the first day. Private Albert Nightingale was taken to a Casualty Clearing Station south west of Ypres and died of wounds on the 1st August. He is also commemorated on the St. Thomas’s church memorial.
