Louis/Lewis Middleton was the son of Mr and Mrs David Middleton of Cheapside. Previous to enlistment he was employed as a starcher at Messrs. James Humphries & Sons, Kidderminster. He joined Kitchener’s army in August 1914 and was drafted to the 9th Worcesters. He was killed on the anniversary of the day he joined the army. A member of Stourport Cricket Club and as a boy, a member of Mitton Church choir.

From 9th to 12th August the 9th Worcesters took part in the attack from ANZAC towards Sari Bair.
Louis/Lewis Middleton’s name is recorded on the headstone of his father (died 1924) in Stourport churchyard.
