Charles Orlando Large joined Kidderminster Borough Police as PC K022 on 28th March 1915 when he gave his date of birth as 22nd November 1893 at Upper Mitton, Stourport, his home address as 69 Bewdley Road, Stourport and his previous employment as a Barman. At the time he joined the force he was 21 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a fresh complexion, grey eyes and light brown hair.

On 3rd January 1921 Charles married Nellie Doreen Gunter in Kidderminster and the couple had 2 children, Gwen born on 3rd April 1922 and Donald born on 4th October 1929. He was promoted to Sergeant on 8th April 1926. Charles retired from Kidderminster Borough Police on medical grounds (rheumatism) on 18th March 1941 after 26 years 18 days service, receiving a pension of £195 per annum. He died on 13th December 1958.

Charles Orlando Large, aged twenty-one; height, 5ft. 10½in. Police service, six months. Native of Stourport.
All enlisted in the Royal Garrison Artillery on July 15th last, and are now stationed in the South of England. Hall, Palmer, Allen, Haycox and Large are attached to the 49th Battery (Siege), R.F.A., and Moody is now attached to the 56th Battery (Siege), R.G.A. All are single men.
