John Thomas Guy enlisted as a Reservist in the Royal Engineers at Birmingham on 24th June 1916. He was called up for service on 28th June 1917 when he gave his address as 25 Brighton Grove, Gt Francis Street, Birmingham, his age as 30 years 7 months, his occupation as a Goods Porter and his next of kin as his wife, Esther Florence Guy of the same address. The couple had 2 daughters. John was 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was posted to join the British Salonika Force on 8th November 1917, arriving to join them overseas on 10th December 1917. John died of pneumonia on 9th September 1919.
John Guy was employed by the London and North West Railway as a Checker at Aston Station, Birmingham. Listed in the London and North Western Railwaymen Roll of Honour Book with the additional information: Sapper.
